An unlicensed Dunedin teenager who "convinced" his friend to let him have a go on his motorbike was almost instantly injured after crashing.
The 17-year-old suffered a suspected broken leg and taken to hospital after crashing the bike in a retail outlet carpark in Cumberland St at 8pm yesterday, Sergeant Matt Lee said.
The teenager ‘‘convinced’’ his friend to let him have a turn on their motorbike within the carpark, Sgt Lee said.
His friend relented, and the teenager hopped on.
The teen then crashed first into a parked car, before slamming into a concrete wall.
Emergency services responded and Hato Hone St John transported him to Dunedin Hospital.
