A lotto ticket bought in Papakura has won the biggest ever Lotto Powerball prize in New Zealand history.
The winning ticket was sold at Mobil service station in Papakura and eclipses the previous biggest Lotto Powerball prize of $22.4 million, which was won in October 2009 by a player from Manukau.
"Powerball has been jackpotting for sixteen weeks to reach this massive prize, only the second time ever it has jackpotted this long," NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive Todd McLeay said.
"The first time it lasted sixteen weeks, the jackpot reached $30 million and went to a Must be Won draw, where it was shared by five Powerball Second Division winners who won just over $6 million each," Mr McLeay said.
"Winning a prize of this magnitude can be overwhelming for people, so we recommend the winner(s) write their name on the back of their ticket and then contact NZ Lotteries on 04 802 7000, so we can give them all the information they need to claim their prize," he said.
It was not known if the ticket was bought by an individual or a syndicate.
The winning numbers were: 9, 14, 15, 31, 35, 38 and the powerball was 10.
