Five people have been taken to Timaru Hospital, two with serious injuries, after a two-vehicle crash on the Timaru-Temuka highway.
Police said the crash, about 6.15pm between Arowhenua Station Rd and Arowhenua Rd, appeared to have been head-on and had blocked the highway.
Firefighters had to cut occupants from the cars.
St John spokesman Ian Henderson said two patients with serious injuries, two with moderate injuries and one with minor injuries had been taken to Timaru Hospital.
