Armed police have been called to a domestic incident in Lower Hutt, north of Wellington.
Police Communications Inspector Steve Darroch said threats had been made by one person to their partner and it was believed the the person making the threats had access to firearms.
A Naenae Rd house was cordoned off and traffic diversions were in place.
