Body found in Rotorua park remains unidentifed

A body found in a Rotorua park has not been identified and police are appealing for help.

The man's body was found yesterday in Linton Park and police are not treating his death as suspicious.

The man was described as Maori or Polynesian, possibly aged in his 20s, 190cm tall with short, black hair and short facial hair.

He was wearing khaki Dickies shorts and shirt, red Nike shoes and a blue Bulldogs cap.

Detective Sergeant Tony Colby said police were appealing for help as a last resort.

"We fully appreciate the sensitivity of this matter and making a public appeal of this nature is not a decision we take lightly; we only take this step when we have exhausted all other avenues," he said.

"It is important to us that we do everything possible to return this man to his family."

Anyone with information can contact Rotorua Police on 07 348 0099.
