A 5-year-old is in a critical condition at Waikato Hospital following a collision between a car and a truck on State Highway two at Ngatea near Thames last night.
A 41-year-old believed to be the child's parent, who was also in the car, is in a stable condition at hospital after suffering minor injuries.
The serious crash unit is investigating.
