Connor Morris accused will go to trial in August

A man accused of killing Connor Morris will go on trial in August.

West Auckland man Michael Murray, 33, is alleged to have attacked the 26-year-old victim in Massey last year.

At an administrative hearing in the High Court at Auckland this morning a trial date was set for later this year.

Murray will take to the dock in August for a four-week trial.

Mr Morris, 26, suffered a fatal head injury during a confrontation outside a party on August 3.

He was held by his partner of six years, Millie Elder-Holmes, as he lay dying.

Ms Elder-Holmes and members of Mr Morris' family packed into the first two rows in the public gallery this morning, some wearing "Rest easy Connor Morris" T-shirts.

Murray was excused from appearing in court this morning, where his legal team confirmed it was "ready to proceed". A trial date was set for August 3.
