Driver trapped after truck rolls in Waikato

A driver was trapped when a truck rolled in Waikato this morning.

The incident occurred about 9am at Kaihere, north of Hamilton.

The driver had to be removed from the vehicle by the Fire Service and was flown to Waikato Hospital by the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

It did not appear that any other vehicle was involved, Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust spokeswoman Kerrie Spicer said.

The Fire Service attended the incident about 9.30am and spent more than 10 minutes working to cut the driver free, spokesman Colin Underdown said.

It was a large truck carrying concrete sections, he said.

The incident occurred on State Highway 27 near the Kaihere Hill rest area, he said.
