man was swept to his death off rocks while fishing at Karekare beach on Auckland's west coast yesterday.
The man's body could not be recovered in spite of efforts by the Westpac rescue helicopter, the police helicopter and off-duty lifeguards because of the rough conditions.
The man's identity has not yet been released.
