Nitro Circus Live star Aaron ''Wheelz'' Fotheringham landed the first ever wheelchair front flip in Wellington, New Zealand last night over a massive 50 foot gap.

The 19-year-old wheelchair athlete from Las Vegas completed the feat in front of 17,500 people at Westpac Stadium.

First, Fotheringham landed a perfect back flip off the 50-foot high Gigant-a-ramp and then made his way back to the top to follow it up with the world first front flip.

''Landing the front flip was the craziest feeling ever. It's blind the whole way round when you rotate so when I felt the wheels land perfect it was so sweet!'' Fotheringham said.

''It was so good to have my mum right there at the end of the landing and all of the Nitro crew who gave me the best advice on how to perform it.''

Fotheringham was born with Spina Bifida and started riding at skate parks at the age of 8 with his brother and has been hooked ever since. In 2006, he landed the first wheelchair back flip and in 2010 he performed the first ever double back flip in a wheelchair.

The Nitro Circus Live tour stops in Dunedin at Carisbrook on Saturday, February 19.
