A second person involved in a three-car crash in Hamilton earlier this year has died of her injuries.
Kim French, 54, of Whatawhata, died in Waikato Hospital yesterday.
Waikato road policing manager, Inspector Dana McDonald, said Ms French was the driver of a Nissan involved in the crash at the Dinsdale roundabout at the intersection of Whatawhata and Dinsdale roads on Friday, January 2.
Gary Andrew Wendt, 68, of Ngaruawahia, was a passenger in a silver vehicle hit by a red vehicle which witnesses described as speeding towards the intersection before also clipping a Ford Falcon. Mr Wendt died at the scene.
It was unclear which vehicle Ms French was travelling in.
As the crash was still being investigated on behalf of the coroner by police, Mr McDonald couldn't comment on the cause.
Mr McDonald said Ms French's death wouldn't go towards the road toll due to the time that had lapsed.
"Given the period of time that has elapsed since the crash occurred the matter is not being treated as a road death. However this in no way lessens the tragic nature of what has occurred and we urge all road users to share the road socially."
