
Heke, one of New Zealand's most wanted men was arrested almost two weeks after he allegedly shot at police officers in Morrinsville, Waikato.
Rollie James Heke (36) was on the run from police since August 13.
Waikato District Commander Superintendent Bruce Bird said Heke faces charges of of unlawful possession of a firearm, failing to stop and possession of equipment to manufacture methamphetamine.
Heke was set to appear in Rotorua District Court this afternoon, Supt Bird said.
At 1.30am police found him at an address in Kaingaroa Forest township.
Police superintendent Bruce Bird said Heke had been arrested "without incident and without undue risk to the community".
The investigation into the Morrinsville shooting was ongoing.
His former partner Irene Scanlon (43) was also taken into custody and will appear in Hamilton District Court this afternoon or tomorrow on an outstanding warrant, Supt Bird said.
"In addition to this, a 32 year-old-man and three women aged 62, 43 and 29, have all been charged with being an accessory after the fact and were set to appear in Rotorua District Court today."
