Marice Jane McGregor's body was found on May 12
Ms McGregor was last seen alive on State Highway Four on April 19 by Lismore Forest, northeast of Wanganui.
The body of the 45-year-old sickness beneficiary was found by police on May 12 in a ravine close to the highway and about 36km north of where she was last seen. An autopsy later found she suffered head injuries.
Last night a 42-year-old Feilding man was charged with Ms McGregor's murder, Police Central Districts communications manager Kim Perks said.
Ms McGregor's funeral was held yesterday.
