Missing Wellington lawyer may be in Auckland

Police believe a Wellington lawyer, missing for nearly four months and whose car was found abandoned at a city beach, may actually be somewhere in Auckland.

Robert Logan, 51, was reported missing on August 27 and his white 1991 Nissan Sunny station wagon was found at the Owhiro Bay car park on Wellington's south coast the same day - pointing to the possibility he may have taken his own life, although family members said he was not irrational or depressed. Police divers and a land search found nothing.

However, family members tidying up Mr Logan's office came across a note written by Mr Logan before he disappeared, which suggested the possibility he travelled to Auckland after his disappearance, said Constable Graeme Muir of Wellington CIB.

Mr Muir said police had made extensive inquiries and conducted a number of specialist searches since Mr Logan's disappearance and were still considering all options as to where he might be.

Mr Logan's elderly mother and her family were desperate to know where he was, Mr Muir said.

Anyone with information to was urged to contact police.
