
The couple, who received the titles the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they married last month, are closely associated with the games, a sports competition for wounded and sick serving or veteran military personnel founded by Harry in 2014. The games will run from 20-27 October.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern welcomed the news.
“It’s wonderful news that the Duke and Duchess are coming to New Zealand as part of their first major tour outside the United Kingdom and I look forward to welcoming them here,” Ardern said.
“I know Prince Harry really enjoyed his last visit here in 2015 and I’m sure New Zealanders will want the Duchess of Sussex to also experience our warm hospitality and manaakitanga on her first visit here as a member of the Royal family.
“This is the Duchess’s second visit to our country and I know New Zealanders will be very much looking forward to welcoming her back.”
The visit is still in the planning stage and further details regarding dates and the itinerary will be released closer to their arrival.
They were first pictured together at the opening ceremony for the event in Toronto last year, and they cheered on competitors hoping to be chosen for the British team for Sydney a month before they were married.
Harry and Meghan exchanged vows in a glittering ceremony at Windsor Castle, near London, in May, watched up close by royals and celebrities and from afar by millions of TV viewers around the world.
