A search for missing Rangiora woman Emma Beattie has resumed this morning, targeting an area in the Ashley River.

Police and search and rescue volunteers are continuing to scour the river area after the 20-year-old disappeared from her home in Fernside late on Friday night.

Police said eight teams, including LandSAR volunteers, were searching areas of interest near the Canterbury river where they believe she had gone on Saturday.

The search was  concentrated on the Hillcrest Rd area of the river.

Teams are focusing on buildings, properties and hedgerows in the area.

A Search and Rescue dog team was also involved.

Search conditions were "very hot" and fresh teams would be taking over this afternoon.

Police yesterday appealed for anyone who may have seen her at the river on Saturday to make contact as there were concerns for her wellbeing.

She was believed to be wearing orange and black Nike sports shoes when she disappeared and possibly carrying a small brown drawstring rucksack with cream rope straps.
