There were three reported deaths on New Zealand roads during the weekend, including a man killed while trying to cross a motorway.
Police said it appeared the man attempted to run across Auckland's southern motorway at about 9pm Friday when he was hit by a southbound car.
The driver of the vehicle involved had been spoken to by police, while the victim's name was yet to released.
This afternoon a male in his late teens was killed when the vehicle he was a back seat passenger in crashed into a fence and ended up in a ditch near Palmerston North.
Police said the crash happened on Flygers Line about 2.30pm.
In Rotorua, police said speed was likely to have been a factor in a crash which killed a man on Amohau St at about 9.30pm on Saturday.
The crash, which involved one vehicle with three occupants, was being investigated and police wanted to hear from any witnesses.
