The mother of slain twins Chris and Cru Kahui said today she argued with their father and accused him of "hurting my babies".
Macsyna King told an Auckland inquest into the boys' deaths she asked her partner Chris how one of the them got bruises on his face.
At no time did her partner say he did something to hurt the twins, she said.
Police lawyer Simon Mount asked Ms King why her partner did not come to support her after the twins were admitted to Auckland's Middlemore Hospital.
"I'd rung him a number of times and he gave me no explanation," she said.
He said things to me like "whatever", Ms King added.
Three-month-old Cru and Chris died in hospital in June 2006.
Chris Kahui was found not guilty of their murders in a High Court trial in 2008, at which his lawyers said Ms King killed them.
Ms King has denied she caused the injuries which led to the babies' death.
Chris Kahui is expected to give his version of events at the inquest later today.
