A second Tauranga taxi driver has been attacked and robbed within the space of two days.
In the first, early on Sunday morning, a driver was attacked by his fare when he drove him to the suburb of Brookfield.
The assailant grabbed cash and personal belongings before fleeing.
The driver suffered face and head injuries and was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a serious but not life-threatening condition.
A 20-year-old man was later arrested over the incident.
In the second attack, last night, cabbie Dev Sangha was robbed by a passenger at a remote intersection in Papamoa, south of Tauranga, by a man who claimed to be a gang member.
He took the float and threatened to shoot Dev if he told police, Mr Sangha told the SunLive website.
A 22-year-old store manager has been arrested and will face robbery charges in Tauranga District Court today.
