Witnesses sought after Auckland assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman complained of being sexually assaulted in Auckland's Albert Park yesterday.

The woman said the assault occurred around 6.10am on Saturday in Bowen Ave when she was forced into the bushes of Albert Park.

The alleged offender was last seen running down Bowen Ave towards Kitchener St.

He was described as being in his 20's with dark hair, light brown skin and either Maori or a Pacific Islander wearing no hat, a white T-shirt, grey long pants or jeans and carrying a darker top.

Police were appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who had any information in relation to this incident to come forward.

A taxi driver seen in the area at the time was believed to have witnessed something of the incident.
