The death of a pet can really take the wind out of your sails.

For Dutch artist Bart Jansen, the death of his beloved cat was no different.

Seeking a dignified means of honouring his pet, Orville, named after the elder Wright brother, Jansen decided to have him stuffed and miniature helicopter rotors inserted into his outstretched paws.

Jansen says Orville was killed by a car.

He calls the flying, remote controlled art piece the "Orvillecopter," reports the Daily Mail.

"After a period of mourning he received his propellers posthumously," said Jansen.

The Orvillecopter is on display at an art show in Amsterdam.
