Israeli media say autopsy results on a body dragged from a Tel Aviv river confirm it is that of 4-year-old French girl Rose Pizem, but the cause of death is not yet clear.

Radio and television reports said the corpse discovered by police divers Thursday was identified Friday by a comparison of its DNA with a sample taken from the girl's mother, 23-year-old Marie-Charlotte Renault.

Neither forensic institute officials nor police spokespeople could be reached for comment Friday evening, the start of the Jewish sabbath.

Police believe that Renault's lover, 45-year-old Roni Ron murdered the child and the mother may also have been implicated. Both are in custody.

Rose disappeared in May and Ron has admitted killing her, although he later retracted his statement.
