School principal Linda Miller said the school welcomed 23 new pupils from China, Germany, Japan, Syria and Vietnam.
The time the new recruits would spend at the school ranged from months to years, she said.
Nine of the pupils were from its sister school, Guangming High School, in Shanghai.
The year 11 pupils would be in Dunedin for two and a-half years to complete their secondary schooling.
The new intake joins other international pupils attending the school from Cambodia, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan.
The 23 pupils made up the largest ``midyear intake'' of international pupils in the five years Ms Miller had been at the school.
The school had 60 international pupils, the most since the early 2000s.
