Pair visit hospital after tree falls on lines

Two workers made a precautionary visit to hospital last week after a tree branch hit power lines while a Delta crew was carrying out tree maintenance.

During the incident in Sunnyvale, Dunedin, the branch fell on to live overhead power lines, cutting power to some customers in Green Island, Abbotsford and Fairfield.

A Delta spokeswoman said the Delta tree services crew was contracted by Aurora Energy to carry out tree maintenance in Main South Rd last Monday.

During the work, a branch came down on power lines, causing an arc.

Two traffic management workers at the scene were asked to make a precautionary visit to hospital.

The spokeswoman said both were released with no injuries, and confirmation of no exposure to an electric shock.

They both returned to work the next day.

WorkSafe was informed of the incident, and it was deemed not to be a notifiable incident.

Delta had begun its own investigation.
