Invercargill house fire contained swiftly

Invercargill firefighters were quick to contain a small house fire in Totara St on Sunday night.

Three appliances were called to the Invercargill house just after 7pm to reports of a fire in a ceiling void.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand communications shift supervisor Daryl Ball said the fire was contained “relatively quickly”.

He said two firefighters managed to extinguish the fire with breathing apparatus and a hose reel before it spread further.

There were no suspicious circumstances and no investigation was required, he said.
