Otago rowers won plenty of medals at the South Island club championships at Lake Ruataniwha over the weekend.

Oamaru's girls crews impressed yet again with their dominance in the under-19 category with three golds and a bronze.

Maysie Scott and Sydney Telfer won the women's under-19 double sculls and then teamed up with Julia Fauth and Micaela Irvine and cox Jess Mulligan to win the coxed quad and then place third in the under-19 coxed four.

Scott also won the under-19 single over North End's Karley Wilden-Palms, who was second.

Wilden-Palms then teamed up with Juliette Alm-Lequeux for second place in the women's club double.

Mark Taylor won the boys under-16 single and then with James Scott, Kalas Taukamo, Adam Sewhoy and cox Jess Mulligan won the coxed quad.

North End's age group coxed eights picked up several medals.

The girls under-16 won gold.

The eight of Lili Sabonadiere, Gabby Hunter, Georgia Hay, Kate Edwards, Brie Shea, Josie Cook, Stella Keown, Claudia Maker and cox Mia Knott held a commanding two-length lead over long-standing rivals Craighead Diocesan out of the Timaru Rowing Club and Rangi Ruru for most of the race, to win by 8sec over the crew from Timaru.

The eight then split and picked up second and third in the under-16 coxed quad.

The crew of Maker, Cook, Shea, Hay and cox Mia Knott pipped the other North End crew of Sabonadiere, Hunter, Edwards, Corbett and cox Anna Frame for second.

North End's boys under-16 eight finished second behind Christ's College and ahead of St Bede's.

The crew of Will Sinclair, Cam Parnell, Midge van Boxtel, Todd Bezett, Chai Proctor, Hamish Sinclair, Oliver Higgins, Hugh Chapman and cox Phil Burrell all worked hard.

Bezett, van Boxtel, Proctor, Chapman and Burrell also picked up third in the under-16 coxed four in 7min 10.35sec.

Dunstan's sculling programme continues to flourish and the group of under-17 girls set the pace.

Macela Turfus, Sydney Cook, Lucy Geddes, Keryn Tubbs and cox Sophie Williamson came second in the girls under-17 coxed quad.

Geddes yet again showed her dominance in the single, winning the under-17 event while Turfus came third in the girls under-16 single, nine seconds behind the winner, a classy Veronica Wall from Ashburton.

Turfus and Cook then teamed up to win the girls under-17 double sculls in 7.51.84.

Wanaka's Bruce brothers did not fail to deliver.

The duo won gold in the men's club double and Riley won the men's under-19 single and Eachann finished third in the men's club single.

The national rowing championships are in Twizel on February 17-21.
