A man is in Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries after being severely beaten, allegedly by a 25-year-old Oamaru man.
A police spokeswoman said Dunedin police were called to Craig Hendry St, in Concord, about 10.10pm on Wednesday, after receiving a report a person was injured.
"Upon arrival, a person was located with serious injuries and was transported to hospital."
Yesterday afternoon, police and the armed offenders squad travelled from Dunedin to a property in Oamaru, where a search warrant for the alleged offender was executed.
The AOS were on hand as a precaution, she said.
A house was searched about 4.25pm and a 25-year-old man was taken into custody without incident.
The man is to appear in the Dunedin District Court at a later date, she said.
The victim is recovering in Dunedin Hospital.
