Thandi Sliepen’s Aramoana Series has been picked up by the Dunedin City Council to be displayed in libraries across the city.
She said she felt really "embraced and supported" by the council.
The libraries would be a "safe haven" for her paintings.
The collection of 12 paintings would be spread across the Dunedin City Library, Port Chalmers Library and the new South Dunedin Community Library, but no firm location had been chosen.
The works were stored in her parents’ home for almost 30 years.
She was glad they would stay in the public eye.
She had made them while living in Aramoana in 1996 and used a lot of her friends as models.
Council content and access manager Fiona Knudson said the libraries were very grateful to Ms Sliepen for loaning her artwork to them.
