A sign above the entrance of Bethunes Gully in North Dunedin will be back in place by the end of next week.

The Dunedin City Council removed the original, rotting, sign in March 2024.

A replica sign was to be installed by spring that year, a council spokesman said at the time.

On Monday, the council posted a picture on social media of the original sign in situ.

There is no sign in place, but a spokesman confirmed it would be installed by the end of next week.

Improvements to the playground at Bethunes Gully would happen next week as well.

There was no information about why it had taken so long to replace the entrance sign.
