Andersons Bay School buried a time capsule under its new hall yesterday during a grandparents lunch event.
Principal Pauline Simpson said every child at the school had added something to the time capsule.
Some children put small blurbs about themselves with photos, while others added voice recordings.
The voice recording was similar to the one placed inside a time capsule buried by pupils at the school in 1996. Except this time it was housed in a USB memory stick rather than a cassette tape.
‘‘Hopefully, the memory stick will be able to be accessed [when the time capsule is discovered],’’ Ms Simpson said.
They also put in some New Zealand currency coins and write-ups from teachers about how the school had changed in their time there.
All the items were wrapped in an Andersons Bay uniform polo T-shirt and placed in a rubber-sealed steel capsule.
To avoid the contents getting damaged, the capsule was placed in PVC and encased in concrete.
While there was no date set for when the capsule was to be unearthed, she thought it was a good idea for it to be uncovered at the school’s 200th anniversary in 2058, Ms Simpson said.
The new hall was expected to be ready in April.
