One person was rescued from Lake Te Anau yesterday morning after a 4.3m vessel ran aground in the lake’s south fiord.
A Southern Lakes Helicopter responded at 5.45am, airlifting the sole occupant to Te Anau.
In a statement, Environment Southland (ES) said there was no report of any fuel spill or risk that the vessel posed a navigation safety hazard.
The boat owner is liaising with their insurance company over its removal.
An investigation by ES’ harbourmaster team is under way. — Allied Media
