Service to sport honoured

Waikaia man Malcolm McKee was officially invested with his MNZM honour for services to sport by Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro at a ceremony in Wellington last week.

Mr McKee has voluntarily contributed to a variety of sports and other community groups over many decades, including the Waikaia Rugby Football Club, Southland Rugby, Equestrian Sports New Zealand and the Waikaia Volunteer Fire Brigade.

‘‘Once you get involved, you just carry on making things happen,’’ he said this year when his honour was announced.
