Organisers of the rally, running from 1pm-2pm, are hoping for support from members of the rainbow community, allies, whānau and concerned city residents.
The Dunedin event was one of a series of demonstrations which have taken place in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton as opposition grows to the Bill, which critics have said would undermine the recognition and inclusion of transgender, non-binary and intersex people in Aotearoa.
The Bill passed its first reading in Parliament in May and has been referred to a select committee for public submissions, which close at 11.59pm on Thursday, July 2.
The Dunedin demonstration is being organised by a community working group assembled by Woof! Bar owner and community advocate Josh Thomas.
"I have trans and non-binary friends, family members and employees and for me it’s pretty simple - they should have the same rights as all Kiwis to live their lives freely and without discrimination," Mr Thomas said.
"The government has no right to tell New Zealanders who they are and how they define themselves."
Organisers said the rally aim was to provide a visible show of support for transgender, non-binary and intersex people, while encouraging members of the public to engage with the select committee process.
