Head shaved for the brave

Struck that children going through cancer treatments often have no choice but to lose their hair, a 10-year-old Queenstown girl just made that choice herself in a show of support.

Passionate skateboarder Juno Hadlow had her head shaved this week by Frankton Hair’s Becky Nixon, who donated her time.

Juno decided she would wait until she had raised $2000 for the Child Cancer Foundation — by yesterday, she had raised $3788 through her Givealittle page, ‘‘Juno’s Shave for the Brave’’.

Before Monday’s shave-off, the Te Kura Whakatipu O Kawarau pupil said she felt ‘‘overwhelmed with joy at the money I’ve been able to raise thanks to you all, and how much that will mean to the brave kids and their families in New Zealand who are affected by cancer’’.

Juno’s Givealittle appeal runs until Sunday.
