A century of fellowship in the Tuapeka Mouth area was celebrated yesterday as more than 100 gathered for the Tuapeka Mouth Presbyterian Church's centenary.
Two former ministers, the Rev Allan Morgan and the Rev Peter Marshall, were among the estimated 115 who joined for a celebration service at the church followed by a gathering at the township's hall.
Organising committee spokeswoman Alma Thompson said the gathering was a chance for past and present residents to join together and celebrate the church's 100 years.
The Rev Alf Bradfield led a service at the church yesterday morning and after photographs the celebration moved to the Tuapeka Mouth Hall.
The oldest known parishioner, 86-year-old Joyce Rishworth and the youngest, Jeremy Harrex (8) cut the commemorative cake while others exchanged memories.
The church doors officially opened in March 1909 and services are still held there fortnightly.
