Leishman Funeral Services women took on Grant Braes women’s prems on a warm autumn afternoon at Bayfield at the weekend.
Coming off the back of two losses, the Leishman women were determined to get a win.
They started strongly, and were rewarded early with Stacey Bell opening the scoring in the 15th minute.
Showing composure in front of the goal, just eight minutes later Bell struck again with one of her long volleys bang on target.
This brilliant goal doubled the lead, putting Leishman women firmly in control of the scoreboard.
The Grants Braes women later got their name on the scoreboard by finding their way past Leishman keeper Trinity Bradbury, seconds before the halftime whistle.
This goal from caused a shift in the momentum of the game, heading into the second half.
The Leishman women maintained dominance for the majority of the opening and, in the 65th minute of the game, Lauren Scarth extended the lead with a well-taken goal.
However, Grants Braes refused to back down, eventually scoring again in the 82nd minute to notch up a nail-biting 3-2, setting up a tense finish.
However, the Leishman women held firm under pressure, defending resolutely in the closing stages to see out the win over Grants Braes in what was an entertaining contest.
Player-of-the-match goes to Stacey Bell for a standout performance, scoring twice and making a major impact on the game.
