American-born Kim Carpenter has been appointed director of sales and marketing at the five-star golf resort.
His experience includes working for Colliers-Playground New Zealand, where he marketed resort real estate in Queenstown, and as project director for Jacks Point.
He has also been a vice-president of marketing development and strategic projects for the Kapalua Land Company in Hawaii.
Mr Carpenter's task is the integrated marketing of Millbrook and Millbrook West, its half-billion-dollar lifestyle housing development.
Millbrook general manager David Onions said the resort was "delighted to draw on the talents of such an exceptional professional".
Acknowledging the tight financial market conditions he will have to contend with, Mr Carpenter said Millbrook was well placed to meet current economic challenges.
"Millbrook is New Zealand's most successful resort and has one of the premier reputations of any resort destination in Australasia," he said.
"Our responsibility will be to build on this and help position Millbrook for the future."
While Millbrook was very much a part of Queenstown, Mr Carpenter said it was also an "oasis".
"It is a place that people can escape to and enjoy a world class getaway, a place of peace and wellbeing," he said.
