Off the rails

Ashlin Dean, of Australia, competes in The Remarkables 40th Anniversary Rail Jam in front of several hundred people packed around the Brecon St Steps in Queenstown yesterday. 

Dean was one of 50 riders taking part in the competition, which was the first in a series of events celebrating the skifield’s birthday this weekend.

Skifield owner NZSki brought in several truckloads of snow for the course, which was built on scaffolding over the steps.
