The establishment of a proposed $20 million motorsport park at Cromwell is on track and directors hope to implement its development in stages.
Cromwell Motorsport Park Trust Ltd director Allan Dippie, of Wanaka, said planning was still in its early stages, but the past year had been productive.
Mr Dippie - one of the trust's five directors - said a 92ha land purchase agreement with the Central Otago District Council had been completed and most outstanding conditions of consent had been finalised.
"We are making good progress although we haven't got a finalised timeline for the project.
"It's quite a large project and should be put together in stages," he said.
The proposed park comprises a vehicle testing facility, motorsport racing venue, specialist driver facilities and an associated commercial and retail complex next to the existing speedway on the outskirts of Cromwell's industrial area.
Its combination of activities would complement the Southern Hemisphere Proving Ground's facilities at the Snow Farm near Wanaka, could be used by the Queenstown commercial film industry, and could extend racing opportunities.
An Environment Court procedure for the trust and appellants is scheduled to be held at Queenstown on December 7.
Mr Dippie said it was for minor details of consent to be signed-off, and should conclude court dealings.
The Environment Court upheld in part an appeal by 16 Cromwell residents last November against the planned motorsport park, ordering some consent conditions be modified.
