The Cromwell Community Board intends to enter into a lease with a farmer who plans to establish a $4 million agridome on part of the Cromwell Racecourse Reserve.
At a meeting on Monday, the board resolved to accept the single submission in support of the proposed development.
Motueka farmer Lester Rowntree proposed to establish the New Zealand Heritage Farm Show on about 5.5ha of racecourse reserve beside State Highway 6 near the entrance to Cromwell.
Because the reserve is Crown-derived and vested to the board, consent for the lease must be given by Minister of Conservation Tim Groser.
The board will advise the minister of its support and seek his consent.
