The final Central Otago district electric car charging station is now operational. Power to the Cromwell station was connected on April 30. The station was installed outside the local i-Site on Murray Tce in March.

Central Otago District Council risk and revenue manager Charlotte Dundass said the council had installed three other charging stations in the district.

Stations in Thompson St, Alexandra, and Hanrahan Lane, Ranfurly, were installed last year and one in Jedburgh St, Roxburgh, was installed in January.

Car parks at all four sites were being painted last week and this week. The project is a joint initiative by Auckland company ChargeNet New Zealand and Aurora Energy, to extend the electric car charging network in Otago.
