'Challenges' ahead for Gillespie's fourth term

The first task of the newly-elected Cromwell Community Board was to appoint Neil Gillespie as chairman for a fourth term.

Mr Gillespie, who was appointed Central Otago deputy mayor last week, has served as community board chairman for the past nine years.

He was reappointed unopposed, as was deputy chairwoman Helen Hucklebridge.

Mrs Hucklebridge has served as deputy for the past two terms.

"I've enjoyed being the chairman and I look forward to the next three years, as Cromwell's got a lot of challenges facing it," Mr Gillespie said.

"My role is to chair the meetings and get the blame when things go wrong, " he joked.

Glen Christiansen and Nigel McKinlay were the new faces at the council table, joining Terry Emmitt, Gordon Stewart, Murray MacMillan and Mrs Hucklebridge.
