Emergency crews have extinguished a chimney fire in a Ranfurly house, while linesmen are on their way to attend to fallen power lines elsewhere in the Maniototo.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokesman said firemen were called to a house fire in Thomas St, Ranfurly, at 10.30am.
Ranfurly, Naseby and Omakau fire crews attended and extinguished a "small fire in the chimney''. One crew is still at the site.
The Fenz spokesman also said there were power lines down on a private property in Linnburn Runs Rd, at 10.15am. The two incidents were unrelated.
Because it was on a private property, fire crews did not attend the incident, but linesmen were "on their way", the spokesman said.
