
In total, eight Alexandra and Wanaka residents have been charged with more than 70 offences in relation to the nine-month drug investigation by Central Otago, Queenstown Lakes, and Dunedin police.
Lucas George Attfield (20), employed, of Alexandra, faces 22 charges in relation to Operation Helix, as well as a further unrelated charge.
He entered no plea in relation to the 22 drug-related charges, which allegedly occurred at Alexandra between December 4, 2008, and June 22.
Those charges included possessing and offering to sell LSD, selling cannabis plant to a constable, and possessing, selling, and offering to sell or supply cannabis plant and leaf.
On a charge of intentionally damaging a poker machine at Cromwell on July 9, Attfield entered a guilty plea and was convicted.
On all charges, he was remanded on bail to appear in the Alexandra court on October 21.
Police did not oppose bail on condition Attfield resided at a particular address, adhered to a curfew, did not consume alcohol or drugs, surrendered his passport, and did not apply for a new passport.
Shane Te Ihorangi Cribb (21), employed, of Alexandra, was also remanded on bail to October 21 with similar conditions, in relation to 18 charges.
They included selling cannabis to a constable, possessing, selling, and offering to sell or supply cannabis plant, leaf, and resin, as well as wilfully resisting a police officer.
Cribb's alleged offending occurred in Alexandra between December 20, 2008, and September 22.
Also remanded without plea to October 21 was Claire Elizabeth Nees (37), mother, of Alexandra.
Nees faces four charges of manufacturing cannabis oil and possessing and offering to sell cannabis plant, at Alexandra between December 20, 2008, and September 22.
A fourth Alexandra resident charged through Operation Helix did not appear in the court yesterday.
The man faces 11 drug-related charges for alleged offending at Alexandra between February 20 and May 31.
One of four Wanaka men charged in relation to the drug bust appeared before Judge O'Driscoll.
Brogan James Cates (24), unemployed, of Wanaka, was charged with selling cannabis plant and possessing cannabis plant for sale, at Wanaka on July 6.
For intimated guilty pleas on both charges he was remanded on bail to appear in the Christchurch District Court on September 30.
The remaining Wanaka men charged in relation to Operation Helix did not appear in the court.
They collectively face 16 charges for alleged offending at Wanaka between November 6, 2008, and September 22.
More than 30 police worked on the later stages of Operation Helix, which recovered an as yet undetermined amount of class A, B, and C drugs.
