Proceeds from the event in Alexandra will go towards the $620,000 cost of resurfacing the Central Otago netball courts.
Central Otago Netball Centre president Sally Bell said the project had just received a welcome boost with a $275,000 grant from the Central Lakes Trust.
"That's great news and, combined with our fundraising efforts over the past three years, we're well on the way to our total," Mrs Bell said.
The eight courts in Molyneux Park are used throughout the netball season by about 800 people every Saturday. Teams from Ranfurly, Roxburgh, Cromwell, Alexandra and Clyde gather there for junior and senior netball.
The facility is also used for tennis.
Mrs Bell hoped the new rubberised surface could be completed before the 2013 netball season begins in April.
"The courts are deteriorating and are becoming a health and safety issue as the asphalt is breaking down, so the upgrade is timely."
Guest speakers at the fundraising evening include Tactix coach and former Silver Fern and Silver Fern coach Leigh Gibbs, of Christchurch, former All Black and cooking show host Grahame Thorne, of Queenstown, and former Black Cap and Alexandra businessman Shayne O'Connor.
An auction will also be held.
Items include a framed Deidre Copeland etching, an oil painting by Bing Dawe, a netball signed by the Silver Ferns and a rugby league ball signed by the Warriors.
"A Question of Sport" will be held at the Alexandra Rugby Clubrooms tonight at 7.30pm.
