Cromwell Golf Club president Peter Williams said 61 teams and 244 players took part in the event, with players coming from as far north as Auckland to take part.
Mr Ewan’s team won with a score of 248.87 in the Ambrose formatted event, where at least one member of the team has to have played sport at a national or provincial level, he said.
Rugby World Cup winners Ben Smith’s and Jimmy Cowan’s teams were 36th and 59th respectively, while another past All Black and current Springboks assistant coach Tony Brown came in 51st with his team.
However, the results at the tournament themselves were secondary to the event, Mr Williams said. ‘‘This tournament is about having fun with your mates and enjoying a weekend in Central Otago.’’
