Police are urging drivers to stick to speed limits while roads are being repaired following the recent flooding in the Roxburgh area.

Diversions and speed restrictions are in place after parts of State Highway 8 were damaged in the the flooding on Sunday.

Police said this morning they had received several complaints about driving, and urged motorists to slow down on the detour routes.

They said speed could kick up dust from mud and silt left on the roads by the flooding, and this could affect visibility for motorists.

Extra police were in the area to ensure speed restrictions were observed.
