The Cromwell Lake Dunstan Lions Club will be holding their annual charity Christmas tree display at the Cromwell bowling club from November 27.
Convener Ngaire Andrews said the annual event was eagerly anticipated and all 23 trees available were quickly snapped up by businesses wanting to decorate them.
"I couldn’t believe how quick they went. People were waiting for us to come [and ask them]."
Each tree would have a bucket under it with the name of a charity chosen by the business that decorated the tree.
The business that collected the most money in its bucket won a trophy, Mrs Andrews said.
All the money collected from the buckets was given to the nominated charity.
People could chose to vote with their money for a charity, tree or both.
Lions club members would be selling their famous truffles and plants had been donated for sale from Cherry Tree farms.
Businesses who had not been able to decorate a tree had donated raffles, she said.
All proceeds from sales tables and raffles would be distributed among the chosen charities.
This year, for the first time, Santa’s sleigh would be in the bowling club filled with Santa bears and visitors could take their children’s photographs in it, Mrs Andrews said.
There was no charge for entry so hopefully people would vote generously, she said.
