Finalists in the North Otago sports awards have been announced ahead of an awards ceremony in the Oamaru Opera House next month.
Five independent judges considered nominations before deciding the finalists in nine categories.
Sport Waitaki's Kate Cartwright said the traditionally strong category of junior sportsperson of the year again proved one of the toughest, with an impressive number of nominations at a high level.
This year's Network Waitaki Sports Awards finalists are:
North Otago Motor Group Coach of the Year: James Robertson (trapshooting), Shane Jones (swimming), Owen Gould (rowing), Georgina Salter (netball).
Wilsons Sports Team of the Year: Waitaki Boys' High School trapshooting, Waitaki Boys' 4 x100 relay team, St Kevin's College girls' rowing eight.
Placemakers Junior Sportsperson of the Year: Jeremy Tasker (swimming), Stacey Kerin (trampoline), Holly Edmonston (cycling), Megan McPhail (athletics).
Redpaths Sportswoman of the Year: Courtney Kerin (kayaking), Nicole Meikle (netball), Isobel Ryan (swimming), Johannah Kearney (rowing).
Oasthouse Liquorland Sportsman of the Year: Micheal Sandri (multisport), Dylan Kennett (cycling), Blair Grant (athletics), Healey White (snooker).
The recipients of awards for services to sport, athlete with a disability of the year, veteran of the year and overall sportsperson of the year will be announced at the awards ceremony on March 12.
