Omarama businesses plan to get together on a regular basis to discuss how they can make the most of major events and developments planned for their town.
These include the influx of visitors expected during next year's Rugby World Cup, development of the Alps to Ocean cycleway and planned local events such as the Hoe Down in November and rowing regattas at Lake Ruataniwha.
About 20 people attended an Omarama meeting at the Heritage Gateway this week and were "very positive" about planning for events, Jan Thomas, from Hot Tubs Omarama, said.
The aim was to discuss how prepared businesses were, and provide an opportunity for them to get together and network.
"The discussion centred around up-coming events over the next 18 months to two years and other developments," she said.
